traffic and the J.H.L. construction

The very heavy traffic on W. 97th St. is a strong argument against this Jewish

Home Lifecare proposed construction (next to PS 163). W. 97th St. is one way,

westbound and directly receives the traffic from the east side that comes

through Central Park and heads to Columbus, Amsterdam, Broadway, West End,

Riverside and the West Side Highway. These streets had multiple pedestrian

fatalities in 2013-2014 and the NYC Traffic department responded by

    instituting new traffic patterns.

Construction on W 97th that will last three years will be bringing back a very dangerous situation and likely more

    fatalities.

Why doesn’t Jewish Home Lifecare construct their proposed enlarged facility

on their W. 106th St. site rather than on the already traffic congested W. 97th

St, a position previously supported by Melissa Mark-Viverito, city council

    speaker?
