BING PUSHES ONLINE REGISTERING

With Election Day chaos fresh in the public"s mind, Assembly Member Jonathan Bing is reintroducing a bill that aims to make registration easier, especially for younger citizens who are able to vote but fail to register in time. The legislation would require the state Board of Elections to allow for online voting registration and to conduct a study on reaching out to voters under 25. â??The record-breaking registration of New Yorkers wanting to vote for the first time in this year"s presidential election was overwhelming, Bing said. â??Unfortunately, our local Board of Elections offices were ill-equipped to handle the rush of people looking to register to vote. This new legislation will better accommodate such numbers to ensure the board does not experience backlog problems in the future.
