What is "What It Is: What It Is"?

Sound Fix Lounge in Williamsburg hosted a "soiree" for the release of "What It Is: What It Is." What is "What It Is: What It is"? It is a new book constructed through the collaboration of visual artist Maust (also plays bass for Cold War Kids) and Brooklyn wordsmith Paul Maziar. With an incredibly polite audience before him, Maziar gave a gracious sampling of his prose. His words acted as perfect capsules to the people and places he's experienced, with all the right details without giving too much.

Maziar invited along Derrick Brown and a few other poets to contribute readings, as well as musicians Luke Pritchard (The Kooks), Matty Charles and Chase Pagan. Chase Pagan provided a musical backdrop for a few of Maziar's best readings, before playing on his own. The respectful, calm mood in the room led for pleasant night after a miserably long rainy day.

You can find out more about ["What It Is: What It Is" on myspace]. There will be many more readings over the next month, including tonight at The Living Room (with Chase Pagan) at 7pm.
