Tribeca Film Fest 2012 Dates (and A Call for Submissions)!

    The Tribeca Film Festival - now entering its eleventh edition - recently announced the dates for the 2012 festival: April 18 - 29, 2012. Submissions to the festival (which accepts narrative and documentary features and short films) will open on September 19, 2011 and continue through January 6, 2012. For the 2011 edition, the festival received 5,624 submissions.

    The Tribeca Film Festival was started in 2002 by actor Robert De Niro, producer Jane Rosenthal and real estate investor Craig Hatkoff as a way to economically revitalize Lower Manhattan in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks. In 2010, over 410,000 reportedly attended the 12-day festival, which boasted 496 screenings.
