The Carrion/Obama Partnership Never Was...

...if tomorrow's event schedule is any indication.

Last week, Crain's published a report from someone close to Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion's inevitable 2009 mayoral campaign indicating that Carrion and Bronx Democratic Chairman Jose Rivera were lining up behind Senator Barack Obama and against hometown favorite Senator Hillary Clinton.

Carrion's unnamed aide went on to accuse Clinton of taking Carrion and other Latinos for granted, stating that "Ms. Clinton always calls to march with [Carrion] in the Puerto Rican Day parade but has never sat down to hear his thoughts on policy, urban issues, Latino affairs and working together." Carrion and Rivera quickly denied the report, which can be found [here].

I guess that unnamed staffer must have been dumped by now. Tomorrow morning, Clinton will speak at Carrion's annual "State of the Borough" address, making a very public display of their mutual admiration for one another and squashing any rumors of a Bronx alliance with the freshman from Illinois.

Oh, to speak out of turn...
