Tax Fraud Foiled

An attempt to file a fraudulent tax return was thwarted. At 5 PM on Friday, August 30, a 53-year-old woman living on Third Avenue received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating that unknown perpetrators had attempted to file a 2011 tax return in her name but were unsuccessful. The IRS is conducting its own investigation.
