Tom Duane’s mother, Winifred Duane, died on Nov. 5 after a stroke days earlier. She was 84. A wake was held last week at a funeral home on West 14th Street. Winifred Duane is survived by her three sons—Tom, John and James—and their families. State Sen. Duane was able to attend the special session in Albany this week to tackle the state’s budget deficit and possibly vote on his signature
marriage-equality bill.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to the Lehigh University Winifred A. and James J. Duane, Jr. Scholarship Fund, 27 Memorial Drive West, Bethlehem, P.A. 18015, or to Daughters of Wisdom, 385 Ocean Ave., Islip, N.Y. 11751.
