I know we say it all the time, but this weekend we mean it with yell-it-from-our-walk-ups fervor. IT IS GREAT TO LIVE IN NEW YORK! Need evidence? The list below—which sports an eclectic batch of family festivals celebrating cherry blossoms, kindie music (that’s kid plus indie) and the Tribeca Film Festival—should keep you busy.

FRIDAY

Witness history as the space shuttle Enterprise swoops over NYC for the very last time. Look for it tomorrow morning around the Statue of Liberty and The Intrepid, where the craft will temporarily reside come summertime.

FRIDAY-SATURDAY

Help Princess Dodgeballstop a band of bullies from terrorizing her school when The New York Children’s Theater Festival presents Scheme of the Super Bullies, best for ages six and up.

FRIDAY-SUNDAY

A special 35-minute show just for your toddler—the New Victory Theater’s interactive Plop!is based on Ursula Dubosarsky’s popular picture book about two problem-solving rabbits.

Discovery Times Square opens their doors for Terracotta Warriors this weekend. Kids of all ages can peruse life-size ancient artifacts and Chinese warriors at this new exhibit.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY

Shining a spotlight on bulliesin the midst of a student election, TADA! Youth Theater’s new musical, Up To You, has an important message for ages five and up (but is also a lot of fun!). Friday sold out quickly, so be sure to get your tickets in advance.

You actually thought Spring Break was winding down? This weekend alone lets you “go overboard” for Titanic events that were made for elementary schoolers or celebrate National Poetry Month with some well-versed wordsmithing. Not to mention, musical fun a la the Muppets and a bubble bonanza for the entire family.

FRIDAY

Ages five and up can join the Children’s Museum of Manhattan at their Play’s The Thing: Jump & Thump workshop for some physical theater lessons from New Victory Theater pros.

Head to the Alley Pond Environmental Center for fun with bi-continental beasts. The World of Animals exhibit features furry friends from Australia, North & South America and Africa—best for ages 2-10.

Make a bubble sculptureor try on some foam jewelry at Bubblemania with Casey Carle at the New York Hall of Science.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY

April marks the 100th Anniversary of Titanic’s sinking fate. To commemorate the event, The Scholastic Store is hosting a reading and arts & crafts session inspired by the book I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, best for ages seven and up. (Saturday) On Sunday, ages eight and up can hear a letter from a Titanic survivor at the Titanic Sinks! book event at the New York Historical Society. (Sunday)

Celebrate National Poetry Month like a true wordsmith. The Brooklyn Children’s Museum looks to Earth Day as well, for various events geared towards ages 5-18. (Saturday) At the Poets House, join Douglas Florian for baseball-themed poetry and a writing workshop. (Sunday)

Rides, food and cotton candy abound at the Queens County Farm’s Children’s Carnival, delighting families both this weekend and next.

Forbidden friendships rise above in Making Books Sing’s revival production, The Butterfly. Ages seven and up will find out how two very different girls living in WWII Nazi-occupied France help each other during a tragic but compelling time.

Screen a few unique family films at the Film Society of Lincoln Center this weekend. Those with imaginary friends of their own will love the tale of Twigson and also find out what happens when The Great Bear kidnaps Jonathan’s little sister.

SATURDAY
It’s the New Year all over again at the Rubin Museum’s Himalayan New Year celebration for families. Get ready for butter sculptures and tea, plus a collaborative mandala project.

Bring your royal wee ones to the Medieval Arts Children’s Workshop at St. John The Divine. 4′s and up will learn how to carve a block of limestone or master the art of weaving.

Recess always reigns, even on weekends. Check out Recess Monkey, a quirky pop rock trio, at Symphony Space.

Join the JCC for their Special Free Saturday spotlighting Street Arts. Events include a graffiti workshop, art from Keith Haring and a panel discussion.
