Police are questioning a 26-year old man in the case of the 13-year-old Staten Island boy who was found stripped to his underwear and handcuffed to a tree this past Wednesday. The teen originally told cops that he was abducted at knifepoint on his way to school. But authorities now believe that he met his attacker online, specifically MySpace.com, and that this was a planned meeting. Yesterday, NY1 reported that police said the boy may have given his consent to being handcuffed, but not to being abandoned.
William Marcus, who lives on Staten Island, was picked up after his relatives called in tips to the police. 1010 Wins reports that the man was taken to the North Shore’s 120th Precinct stationhouse after the victim picked his face out of a selection of photos. As of thisy morning, police said they have not charged anyone . But CBS 2 News reports that, Marcus was indeed charged with one count of felony kidnapping. From the New York Post: “Cops are also investigating whether the suspect – who has a juvenile record – is connected to a similar incident that occurred about a mile away involving a 14-year-old boy he met in a chat room on March 5.”
