Suozzi Back In The Mix?
Newsday is [reporting] that former Democratic candidate for governor Tom Suozzi is flirting with the idea of running for a third term as Nassau County Executive, despite having said during his primary race against Eliot Spitzer that he would leave politics if he lost.
I can't say I'm surprised. In September, I attended an event at Fordham University's Lincoln Center campus hosted by the Fordham Center on Religion and Culture, titled "Conscience, Religion and the Political Calling," at which Suozzi served as a panelist. The transcript, well worth reading, can be found [here].
Suozzi was well received, and he and I spoke for a few minutes on background. Before we parted ways, I asked him if he was really going to leave the political world forever. Suozzi paused for a second, and then gave himself a bit of wiggle room to stay in the elected world.
"There's a long time between now and the next election," said Suozzi.
