Someone stole a woman's jewelry from a moving closet stored in a hotel basement on West 66th Street. At 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 10, an 82-year-old woman from Warren, CT packed her jewelry in the moving closet that had been put in her hotel room before it was relocated for safekeeping in the basement. When she returned to the hotel on July 15 at 3 PM, she found that property was missing from the moving closet. The hotel manager stated that only hotel employees had access to the location where the moving closet was stored. The items stolen from the moving closet included an emerald-and-diamond brooch valued at $10,000, a diamond-and-mother-of-pearl brooch worth $5,000, plus a pearl necklace worth $1,000. The total value of the missing items amounted to $16,000.
