Spider-Man Goes To Jail

The ex-con dubbed Spider-Man for his habit of crawling up fire escapes and into women’s apartments was [convicted of raping a third] woman yesterday. The [first victim to testify](http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime_file/2007/04/26/2007-04-26_rapist_sez_dont_look_at_me_or_ill_kill_y-1.html) accused Reginald Swinton, 49, of climbing a construction scaffold on June 14, 2004, and entering her brownstone duplex on W. 87th St. through a second-floor window, where he blindfolded, raped and sodomized her. The other two attacks were also committed in June of that year, on W. 87th St. On Monday, the jury found [Swinton guilty of two of the three attacks](http://www.nypost.com/seven/05082007/news/columnists/jury_crushes_spider_fiend_columnists_steve_dunleavy.htm), after deliberating for only three hours and 10 minutes. Had the jury known that Swinton has spent 26 years behind bars—most recently, 11 years for rape—it might not have taken so long.

Lucky for the real Spider-Man, Swinton's dirty rep hasn't done any harm to [box office revenue]. But still, Peter Parker has got to be pretty peeved that his alter-ego is being smeared across New York papers.
