While I do sympathesize withe the pro democracy message which was even more so appropriate as the group's performance took place day before the reinstatement of Putin in Russian "elections", the women involved made an incredibly stupid decision to actually illegally "perform" inside the most important ant Cathedral in the Russian Eastern Orthodox Organization. First of they basically kill their defense by doing it in an area that is a private area whose director is the patriarch of the particular church. Churches in Russia, as in USA are not public areas for free speech. Some concerned citizens who support the group should know that over there Eastern Orthodox church is like Roman Catholicism, and this particular church where the group played is the "Vatican"

Add to that the fact that nuns were running around waving hands to try to stop them, he women ignore the nuns, ignore the parishioners and start this music. The music was unapologetically obscene too.

I wouldn't give them 2 years in prison, but this should have been expected in Russia with or without Putin, so hiding under the veil of political protest is not working and the Russians who otherwise may have agreed with the groups message will not because of the crude offense to decency and the criminal behavior.
