Rep. Ron Paul, Your Latest Republican Longshot

The newest official Republican candidate for president is Texas Rep. Ron Paul (pictured), a former candidate on the Libertarian line and something of a maverick within his own party (he has never supported the Iraq war).

"The American people now have a real conservative in the race for president they can support," stated Kent Snyder, chairman of the Ron Paul 2008 committee said this morning when making the official announcement. "Congressman Paul has a long and consistent record of a true conservative; a record we are eager to put against any candidate for the Republican nomination."

Paul barely registers in most polls and is woefully underfunded, so this run is more vanity than anything. More [here].
