Purloined on Pearl

In the evening of Friday May 31, a 41-year-old woman was sitting at a table in a Pearl Street restaurant with her friends, when she received a text stating that someone had attempted to make fraudulent charges to her cards. She checked her bag and realized that her wallet had been stolen. It turned out that her friend's wallet had been stolen as well. Cameras inside the restaurant may have recorded the incident. It was an expensive evening for the unfortunate diner: in addition to her black Mulberry wallet valued at $500 being stolen, $2,900 had been charged to her Discover card and $3,000 cash taken, along with her New York State driver's license and other debit and credit cards. Mal appétit!
