Please Do Not Offer My God A Peanut

New York City is among the 11 U.S. locations where 7-Eleven stores were transformed into Kwik-E-Marts this past weekend in honor of the upcoming Simpsons movie. 7-Eleleven Inc. has stocked its participating convenience stores with items formerly only seen on TV: Buzz Cola, KrustyO’s cereal and Squishees. Lucky for 20th Century Fox Film Corp., 7-Eleven will be picking up the tab for this publicity stunt—estimated somewhere in the single millions. The move follows the new trend of reverse product placement—instead of commercial items displayed prominently on screen, fake items are made real! Aren’t the infinite strategies devised to get us to spend money mind boggling? Unfortunately, Duff beer wasn’t part of the deal. In an effort not to offend people, 7-Eleven employees will not be dressing up like Apu. Good move. The Simpsons Movie will open on July 27. Check out pics of the temporary setup in Burbank, CA here.
