Party Like It's Pre-2001

Frances Fragos Townsend, the White House homeland security advisor, informed Americans today to go ahead and ring in the new year [without fear of a terrorist attack]. Apparently, the Bush administration hasn't heard of any plot that would interfere with our plans to obliterate all memory of the past year (thank you Jack Daniel’s). When asked specifically about threats from Saddam Hussein loyalists, Townsend mentioned something about how he got due process, which is more than many of his victims can say. Burn! And, might I add, way to dodge the question. Townsend said that she and other administration officials were working closely with local law enforcement to prepare for celebrations here in New Year—she spent a day with Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. That’s comforting.
