PARENTS COUNCIL ELECTIONS

parents who want to run for a spot on their local community education council (cec) can do so until march 19. candidates can fill out an application questionnaire at powertotheparents.org. in february, the department of education unrolled a new selection process for public school parents interested in running for the cec, a group that represents community and parental interests. previously, leaders of the parent teacher association or the parents association chose the cec members; in this new process, those groups will have to consider the results of a straw election open to all public school parents.
