Out For A Morning Drunk Drive
The New York Daily News reports that [a drunk driver hit a sixth-grade boy as he and his friend went to school yesterday morning]. Yes, do the maththat means the unlicensed driver, Jian Kai Huang, 29, was already sloshed at 8:30 a.m. The crash occurred at the intersection of 65th St. and Fort Hamilton Parkway in Dyker Heights. The foot of Jackie Kuang, 11, was severed when Huang ran a red light, slammed into another car and struck Kuang and the eighth-grader with whom he was walking to Junior High School 259. Kuang and his foot were brought to Lutheran Medical Center yesterday, but no word yet as to whether or not it has been successfully reattached. The eighth-grader, Danny Lui, 13, was in stable condition, though his elbow was broken and other injuries sustained. A third pedestrian and three passengers in other cars were also hurt.
Huang is charged with DUI, reckless endangerment and driving without a license. Apparently, a not-particularly-remorseful Huang told the cops, Can you get me in the car? It's cold out here." He lost his license in 2003 for failing to have car insurance. He was driving his sisters car at the time of the accident because his was wrecked in his last drunken escapade a few weeks ago. Huang persuaded his sister to loan him said Lexus after telling her how his last car was destroyed, explaining, Sister, I dont know why I have such bad luck. Uh, I dont think it can be called bad luck when you get behind the wheel after consuming large amounts of alcohol, thats just called common sense. Her response, she told the Daily News, was this: Maybe you have to pray or something. Yeah, pray, or lay off the booze, whichever.
