Early in the morning of Monday, May 6, a 34-year-old female employee of the New York Fire Department left her car at a garage on E. 95th Street. The garage attendant parked the vehicle in the garage and later moved it to the street. When the attendant went again to move the car in the street, he discovered that the driver-side window had been smashed. The garage notified the owner that property had been removed from the vehicle. Because the property belonged to the fire department, the owner called the department’s information technology staff, who were unable to provide any serial numbers for the missing equipment. Cameras in front of the garage may have photographed the incident. The items stolen from the car were a Lenovo laptop valued at $1,500, a video projector valued at $300, and two flash drives valued at $100.

Just after five in the afternoon of Saturday, May 4, a 68-year-old woman left her cell phone and wallet on a table outside a bar on Second Avenue and went inside to get a drink. When she returned, she found her property was missing. She searched the area but was unable to locate the missing items, which she was absolutely certain she had placed on the table. The victim’s son managed to recover the cell phone from a woman on First Avenue after his mother called her own phone and the woman answered. Items in the wallet included the victim’s ID cards, debit and department store cards, plus $200 in cash. No unauthorized charges have appeared on the stolen credit cards.
