Are they serious? Sure, social networking and the mass media it enables can be used for nefarious purposes, but do these Council Members truly believe the technology should be held responsible? I could come up with endless analogies to illustrate how ridiculous this is. I completely agree with Caroline that authorities (at various levels) should be using the same technology they lament to meet their own objectives – such as ensuring public safety. As usual, the bureaucrats are way behind advances in technology.
