On Wednesday, May 1, a 74-year-old woman attended the opera at Lincoln Center. In the afternoon next day when she checked her purse, she opened her wallet and found that her credit cards and her state driver's license had been removed by an unknown perpetrator. When she called to cancel the cards, she found that charges had been made on her American Express card in a taxicab in Manhattan while she was still at the opera. The victim had left her bag containing the credit card unattended as she used the concert hall's restroom for approximately 20 minutes.
