One Jewel of a Display: Tiffany Toasts Its New Windows

On Tuesday evening, Tiffany & Co. paid tribute to the Central Park Conservancy and the 30th Anniversary of the Frederick Law Olmsted Award luncheon with a cocktail fete and the unveiling of their newly styled windows. Each window - there are 5 in total - features an iconic section of the park, coupled with the brand's jewelry. The first window depicts the Conservancy Garden's wrought-iron gates, while other windows show an aerial view of the park that includes The Great Lawn and the angel of the Bethesda Fountain. Women's Committee President Gillian Miniter welcomed Conservancy supporters like Kamie Lightburn, Rachel Hovnanian, Jean Shafiroff, Karen Klopp, Steven Stolman, and Wendy Carduner upstairs to "The Tiffany Salon," home of the brand's priciest and rarest jewels. The canary diamonds - which were available in seemingly every size and cut - drew the biggest "ooohs and aaahs" from the crowd. As told to AVENUEinsider, Tiffany has an agreement with a mine in Allendale, Australia, that ensures these rare gems to be of the brightest color and the highest quality. One guest, however, still needed some convincing that canary was her color. "I have too much yellow in my skin," she fretted to her pal, "they're so beautiful, but I'm afraid they would make my skin look sallow." To which her ever-wise friend replied: "Honey, when the time comes, you'll find a way to wear them."
