The NYPD has said that they will [increase security for Det. Mike Oliver]’s court appearance this coming Monday in Queens after a death threat was made against him by a [prominent gang member](http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime_file/2007/05/11/2007-05-11_gang_boss_slay_threat_on_bell_cop_ups_se.html). Oliver, who fired 31 of the 50 shots that killed Sean Bell and wounded his two friends back in November, sparked outrage when he was recently seen at a trendy restaurant. Bell’s loved ones have criticized court personnel for giving the three cops who were indicted in the shooting special access to the Kew Gardens courthouse in order to avoid the media. But in the wake of the threat, which entailed shooting Oliver in revenge, we’re sure the accused will be more cloistered than ever.
