NYPD Deals With Vermin

Last Friday, the New York Daily News announced that bedbugs have invaded a police station house in New York’s Coney Island, forcing cops and inmates, typically divided by bars, to unite against a common enemy. The problem began nearly three weeks ago, but exterminators armed with spray and glue traps haven’t been able to get rid of the lowly offenders. So officers have been forced to vacate the premises and move to another NYPD building 15 blocks away. Earlier this year, the US got reacquainted with the nasty blood-suckers after nearly a 50-year lull. Experts blame their return on travel, saying the critters hitchhike from one place to the next and once they set up house, it’s really difficult to evict them. Multiple complaints by guests staying at hotels in New York and elsewhere around the country have recently made headlines and now even the city’s finest have fallen victim. So to the good, the bad and the itchy–goodnight, sleep tight, and…well, you know.
