NYC JOB LOSSES
With the collapse of Wall Street, New York City’s unemployment numbers rose, according to a report by the state’s labor department. The city’s unemployment rate—now at 6.3 percent—rose by a sixth of a percentage point between November 2007 and October 2008. That growth was the faster than any area of the state outside the five boroughs.
