NY Job Confidence Improves

If you lose your job, cheer up fella. You're fellow New Yorkers think the job market is just peachy.

The New York Employee Confidence Index gained 1.2 points in March, increasing to 55.6%,  according to the latest Spherion Employment Report. The monthly survey of New York workers shows that while more workers report confidence in their ability to find a new job, few are as positive about the strength of the economy and in the future of their employers.

"Our Report shows us that more workers are confident in their ability to find a new job, which helped the Confidence Index tick back up in March," said Rich Mazelsky, regional vice president of Spherion Staffing Services. "We are still seeing job growth in a variety of key industries across the state, and workers who need or choose to find new jobs are feeling confident about their prospects. However, a high number of those who are already employed look to stay put for the time being, as more workers are not as confident in the strength of the economy."
