Several hundred bargain hunters paid a visit this past week to the very first “Hush” sale, which offered deep discounts on more than 30 of the world’s leading jewelry, watch and giftware brands.
“Hush, the Insider’s Jewelry Sale” took place Wednesday, May 6 through Saturday, May 9 at Lighthouse International, on East 59th Street near Park Avenue. Produced by Manhattan Media, the sale offered 40 to 80 percent discounts on brands including Buccellati, Bulgari, Marina B, Chaumet, Laura Munder, Penny Preville and Judith Ripka.
“We were amazed by the crowds at the opening cocktail event to the last day,” said Paul Lubetsky, CEO of Windsor Jewelers, Inc., who occupied one of the two showrooms at the sale.
Set up in two full showrooms, the Hush sale was designed so that customers could experience a true retail environment, rather than a traditional sample sale setting. To complement this shopping event, representatives from some participating brands were on hand to advise customers on purchases.
The sale opened on the evening of May 6 with a private benefit for Lighthouse International, a worldwide nonprofit dedicated to preserving vision and to helping people overcome the challenges of vision loss. The event, which was co-hosted by Jill Zarin of The Real Housewives of New York City, brought in sophisticated shoppers with a significant interest in luxury jewelry, and resulted in record sales.
Guests were treated to champagne each night of the event and mimosas at a Saturday brunch gathering.
“New Yorkers are the most sophisticated, knowledgeable buyers in the world. They know when they are getting a good deal. As the show progressed we were amazed by the high percentage of clientele that made a purchase,” said Lubetsky. “Our staff was kept busy from the start of the show to the end.”
Future Hush sales will include merchandise such as fashion accessories and home decor. To make sure you are the first to know about these exclusive shopping opportunities, sign up at www.thehushsale.com.
