NEW YORK CARES

The city's largest volunteer event, New York Cares Day, is taking place next Saturday, Oct. 18. Volunteers will help revitalize 119 public schools across the city, including 25 in Manhattan. Projects include re-organizing libraries, planting flowers, painting classroom and fences, creating new murals and more. The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Volunteers can register online at www.newyorkcaresday.org.
