The NYPD has released its first interactive map of felony crimes in the city, showing in detail where murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, larceny and motor vehicle theft have occurred from Jan. 1, 2012 through October of this year.

Residents can enter their address into the NYPD’s map — available at maps.nyc.gov/crime — to see which crimes have occurred in and around their neighborhood.

What they’ll find on the west side is that crime follows Broadway, from Columbus Circle all the way north. According to the data, crime tends to cluster around the avenue, with particular concentrations around major cross streets like 72nd, 86th and 96th streets.

Elsewhere in the neighborhood, the West Side Spirit analyzed which areas on the west side experienced a high rate of crime, relative to the surrounding area.

• 63rd Street between Columbus and Broadway is largely commercial, perhaps accounting for the high degree of larcenies. The area is adjacent to the Lincoln Center and the diminuative Dante Park.

• 14 Crimes:

• 1 burglary

• 1 assault

• 12 larcenies

• Broadway between 67th and 68th Street is home to a Gap store and an Apple store. According to the heat map feature, Broadway is a high-crime thoroughfare not only on the Upper West Side but throughout the city when compared to similar streets.
