Lying For Lynne

Brenna Stewart, a 46-year-old gym teacher at the Bronx Leadership Academy II, has landed in hot water after an investigation by the office of the Special Commissioner for Investigation (SCI) of the City's schools found that she had lied numerous times to take off from work, once even lying so that she could attend the sentencing of her mother, attorney Lynne Stewart (pictured), who was convicted last year on charges that she aided terrorist Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman.

According to the complaint filed by SCI, Brenna Stewart produced false doctor's notes from her sister and even altered a death certificate to take bereavement leave in October 2005, even though the relative had actually died three years earlier.

SCI has recommended that Brenna Stewart be terminated and has forwarded on the report to the office of Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson for further prosecution.
