		<description><![CDATA[[...] The West Side Spirit reports that Lincoln Center has decided not to hold the annual holiday tree lighting ceremony this year.  The ceremony has been cancelled for the second year in the row due to the ongoing construction project around Lincoln Center&#8217;s campus.  According to Kate Merlino, Lincoln Center&#8217;s senior publicity manager, &#8220;You have to have enough room for the performance to not be obstructed and for it to be safe for people.&#8221;  If the construction project meets its completion goal of spring 2010, we will be able to expect the tree lighting to resume for next year&#8217;s holiday season.  If you still want to catch a tree lighting in the Upper West Side this year, don&#8217;t worry&#8230; the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID) is putting together a Winter&#8217;s Eve celebration in the area November 30th complete with its own tree lighting.
