Finally, Mets fans can now make it home from Shea Stadium in time to see the Yankee bullpen blow some late-inning leads. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced yesterday that express service on the No. 7 line will run from the Willets Point/Shea Stadium station after weeknight games, beginning shortly following the conclusion of the game and running for approximately one hour afterwards. The program will begin on July 12 for a series with the Cincinnati Reds. Even for those not taking the express train, service will be improved, as Manhattan-bound local trains will now arrive every six minutes. Of course, if the Yankees really intend to catch the Red Sox, then Mets fans may just have to endure Mariano Rivera finishing off victories in true Sandman fashion.
