A wise man once said, “When it rains, it pours,” and right now, it’s pouring buckets of shit on the New York Mets. Two days after completing [the worst collapse] in baseball history, the Kings of Queens have even more problems: Veteran reliever Scott Schoeneweis has been [linked to steroids](http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3045585).

According to those close to the federal investigation, the southpaw and cancer survivor received six steroid shipments from Signature Pharmacy while playing for the Chicago White Sox in 2003 and 2004. Schoeneweis’s name appeared on boxes that arrived from Signature at ComiskeyPark in Chicago during those years. The doctor who prescribed the medicine, Ramon Scruggs of the New HopeHealthCenter in Tustin, Calif., also prescribed Troy Glaus [his steroids]. Despite the evidence, however, Schoeneweis denied ever even hearing of Signature Pharmacy."I don’t even know what that is," he said yesterday. "Steroids in Florida? I never received anything from Florida. I’m not going to comment. I never even heard of it."

This is embarrassing for the Mets on two levels. 1) It means they have cheaters on their team, and 2) It means they were cheating and still collapsed faster than a ceasefire in Israel’s [West Bank]. Ouch. It’s not a good time to be a Mets fan
