Lawsuits, Lawsuits Everywhere

    •    Nicole Paultre-Bell, Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield will [file lawsuits] in Brooklyn federal court today against the Police Department and the individual officers who [fired the 50 shots](http://www.nypress.com/blogx/display_blog.cfm?bid=48029832&day=19&startmonth=3&startyear=2007) that killed Sean Bell and wounded his friends. The plaintiffs accuse the cops of negligence, recklessness and civil rights violations. •    The first of the [lawsuits against Con Ed](http://www.1010wins.com/pages/710747.php?contentType=4&contentId=713258) concerning last week’s [steam pipe explosion](http://nypress.com/blogx/display_blog.cfm?bid=36716340) has been filed by a woman who claims she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of her sister’s death in the Sept. 11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center. Francine Dorf, 52, accuses the utility of failing to properly maintain the steam pipe in question, which is outside her office where she works as a legal secretary, and seeks unspecified damages. •    Apparently, go-go dancers—you know, teases—take serious offense at being [mistaken for porn stars](http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2007/07/24/2007-07-24_dancer_gogoes_ahead_with_lawsuit.html)—um, sluts. Alex Saez, who danced part-time at the W. 17th St. gay club Splash, has received the go-ahead from a Manhattan judge to pursue his lawsuit against [HX (Homo Xtra) magazine](http://www.hx.com/index.cfm) for running his picture in ads promoting an appearance of “Big City Video porn star Alex” at the club. Po-tay-to, po-tah-to. •    The sister of one of the “victims” of NBC’s “[To Catch A Predator](http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10912603/)”—which uses adults posing as children to entrap dirty birds in online chat rooms—[sued the network](http://www.amny.com/news/local/newyork/ny-bc-ny--sexpredatorsting0724jul23,0,6860845.story?coll=am-topheadlines) in U.S. District Court in Manhattan yesterday for $105 million, saying it is “concerned more with its own profits than with pedophilia.” Shocking. Patricia Conradt accuses the network of taking over police duties and then failing to protect her brother, Louis William Contradt Jr., of Terrell, Texas, when he committed suicide.
