Ladies Love Cool Hillary
A new Gallup Poll released today tells us what is surely no surprise to anyone: Democratic women love Hillary Clinton.
The poll shows that 39% of female Democrats support Clinton's bis for president, while 29% of men agree. Clinton has especially high support among women between 18-49 years of age, grabbing 43% of those voters compared with 27% of men in the same age group. When you look at voters over 50 years of age, Clinton's gender advantage disappears.
Gallup's verdict? Clinton should train her sights on older women to close the deal this primary season. Quote:
Turnout in most primary and general elections skews old. This means Clinton's strong base of support among younger women may not be fully realized if her campaign does not take special efforts to ensure that these voters actually turn out to vote. The older skew in turnout also underscores the potential importance of an effort on the part of the Clinton campaign to increase her support among older Democratic women.
This weekend Clinton will participate in a series of events in Nevada and California, followed by an appearance sure to help her appeal to those coveted older women she needs to take the primary. Monday morning, she will participate in "Good Morning America" town hall meeting focused on health care from Des Moines, Iowa.
