I can share your thoughts and views a little. Memphis is still a pretty heavily racially divided city, However, I have a feeling that most of your experiences are due to being from New York instead of being white. It’s sad to hear that Charles Oakley and Derrick Coleman are racist but it’s not exactly a shocker, I would assume that most in the NBA are.

Memphis isn’t as bad as say.. New Orleans, but I think it’s bark is bigger than its bite.

I’m white, and I’ll have to say, Memphis has some hot black women and most of them love to get together with white guys if they show interest. :)

I enjoyed reading your story, I haven’t been to Memphis since I went to bury my uncle in Nashville in October 2011, living in Texas now, I really miss Tennessee, your article brought back some great memories.
