Iran Divestment Gains Traction In Council

| 11 Nov 2014 | 01:42

On Wednesday City Council Majority Leader Joel Rivera (pictured) and Minority Leader James Oddo will join together to introduce a resolution that will call upon the pension boards of both the City and State to divest from companies with ties to Iran.

"We must not allow New York City investments to finance the work of the Iranian government; a government which has been repeatedly identified by the U.S. State Department as the chief state sponsor of terrorism in the world," said Rivera.

The resolution is expected to have the full support of the City Council.
