When you see hundreds of press releases a day, occasionally a few will pique your interest.

Today, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell declared January "Stalking Awareness Month" in his home state, and urged fellow residents of PA to keep their heads on a swivel.

"Every year, over 1 million people are stalked and are forced to take drastic measures to protect themselves, such as relocating, changing jobs, and - in the most drastic cases - change their names," Governor Rendell said.  "It is crucial that people know where to go in case they are stalked. Knowing what resources are available to them can help them take the right steps to take action."

See, you can get a proclamation for anything. All kidding aside, the release notes that one-in-12 women will be stalked in their lifetime, so Rendell is offering good advice, no matter how goofy the [release] feels.
