In Midst Of Campaign, Brownback & Biden Join Together On Iraq

Republican Kansas Senator Sam Brownback (pictured) and Delaware Democrat Senator Joseph Biden, both candidates for president, will join together on Friday to offer a bipartisan solution to the problems in Iraq. The two will call for a political solution based on a decentralized, federal system of government.

The real news here is the joining of two presidential campaigns from opposite sides of the aisle for what might be the first time ever. If Brownback and Biden were looking to demonstrate their desire to stand above the partisan fray then they've made a good move here.

"Joe and I might be running for the nomination of two different parties, but we agree on one thing: the American people want progress in Iraq and this represents a viable way forward to stability and success," said Brownback. "Decentralizing power in Iraq offers the best chance for Iraqis to live in a peaceful, united country where they can resolve their differences. It is time to begin the political surge we desperately need to help stabilize Iraq so we can get our troops out of harm's way."
