After an unsuccessful break-in attempt, a burglar had better luck next door. Police said that on the morning of Jan. 4, a burglar tried to break into a 36-year-old woman’s apartment, on West 71st Street and Columbus Avenue. Upon returning home, the woman saw signs that a drill and pry bar had been used in an attempt to break open her door, which remained locked. However, the burglar was able to successfully drill through her neighbor’s lock, just one door over. The burglar made off with the neighbor’s two laptops, costing $600 and $2,800, cops said. It is unclear if these two cases are related to the New Year’s Day burglary noted above.
