Though last Saturday’s weather may have gotten us all a little scared, Monday’s Halloween festivities managed to bring all of the city’s monsters out and about town. At Hotel Chantelle, in Lower Manhattan on Ludlow Street, goblins and ghouls, and everything in between celebrated the spooktacular night with drinks and dancing. In honor of the holiday, the venue hosted a variety of events the week prior, since one day of tricks and treats is simply not enough.

Looking at the current iuflnx of trends in 2010, the future of fashion looks bright. The glitz, glamour and sophistication from the 60’s and 70’s have come back, including higher waists, softer blouses and golden dresses for the nightlife. Yet, I assume this will be evolving. We will see antique lace, bright colours, sheer dresses, and tassels on the runway, hugging figures and showing skin. With smaller, tighter waists, we will begin to see fewer accessories, but bigger statement items. ‘Biker’ will take over ‘military’, sheer will take over block materials, and everything will get smaller. Bright colours will replace the darker shades, and the ‘recycle-cycle’ will begin. Fashion will be inspired by older trends, yet we will mix in our own unique style, creating simple yet deluxe statements. The future of fashion looks promising.
