Just another example of the hypocritical left-wing political base in this city, admonishing a Landlord who is simply attempting to do the right thing. Marti Weithman and Co. as usual are following the liberal agenda to attack all landlords of low-income and SRO buildings regardless of whether it's benefitting extremely disadvantaged citizens. Their one objective is to preserve every rent regulated apartment/unit in NYC even if means bankrupting the owners that own them. Owners are constantly, and in some cases, unjustly, harrassed by agencies like HPD, SRO Law project, community boards, etc. even if there are no violations. In most cases, the violations are diminimus types that are reported by tenants within the building to vet or bolster their cause. As long as an owner provides the essential services to a building he should not be denied the right to profit from his investment. We are talking about housing the homeless for gosh sakes, he's not kicking anyone out or displacing any tenants. Regardless of whether this an altruistic effort or a sweetheart deal with the city, an owner, as long as he follows all rules and regulations should be able to make a buck like everyone else.
