by Jerry Danzig In the morning of May 28, a 60-year-old woman reported that her client - a 91-year-old woman living on West End Avenue - had received multiple phone calls from an unknown perpetrator pretending to be from her brokerage house and instructing her to write checks to a specified individual. It is unknown how many checks the elderly woman wrote in response to these requests, but at least two checks turned up for payment at a bank, one for $5,000 and another for $10,000.
