Giant Injuries for NY

Even before the season began, most NFL analysts picked the New York Giants to finish in last place in the NFC East division. Now, two weeks into the 2007-2008 campaign, the Giants’ record [sits at 0-2] and yesterday the team [placed their ninth player](http://www.nypost.com/seven/09192007/sports/giants/9th_giant_on_ir.htm) on the season-ending Injured Reserve list. It’s hard to imagine anything could get worse for the G-Men.

The latest victim: Adrian Awasom. The former North Texas defensive end went down with a fractured traverse process in his neck in last Sunday’s 35-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and will not return this season. New York now only has three defensive ends on the roster, which might force the team to move Mathias Kiwanuka back to his natural end spot.

Regardless of the solution, this defense can’t take many more hits. They [already rank second worst] in the NFC in total yards surrendered, and if more injuries occur, they might as well forfeit the rest of the season. Just to make things worse, [they play at undefeated Washington](http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/nflpreview?gameId=270923028) on Sunday. When it rains it pours, and right now, the Giants are stuck in a monsoon.
