Fun With Matzo

Tonight at 7 p.m., the 10 finalists in the [Manischewitz Matzo] Sculpture Competition are showing their masterpieces at [New York University](http://www.nyu.edu/bronfman/new/?page=calendar). Let’s back up: With Passover on the horizon, area college students have been invited to enter their [matzo objet d’art](http://wcbstv.com/topstories/local_story_085065812.html) in a show inspired by the theme of home. What might possess someone to get messy with matzo? Other than an intensely creative drive and respect for the homeland, there’s a chance to win $1,000. The lucky winner will be announced at tonight’s opening.

In other edible news, it looks like New York City restaurateurs will soon be offering [wine flavored ice cream] thanks to a cutting-edge little creamery upstate. This treat has been two years in the works at Mercer's Ice Cream in Boonville, N.Y., and the fruit of that labor will come in the form Ala Port Wine, Peachy White Zinfandel and Red Raspberry Chardonnay flavors. Can’t wait to try the questionable frozen good until some local creative foodie features it on the menu? You can take a road trip up to Mercer’s, but be sure to bring along your ID—the ice creams each have an alcohol content of five percent and is strictly a revamped childhood treat not for children.
