While many of our four legged friends are [sick or even dying] thanks to contaminated pet foods, those dogs that survive will finally have their day. The Parks Department announced today that [changes to the city's leash laws](http://www.ny1.com/ny1/content/index.jsp?stid=1&aid=68580) have been approved and will go into effect in 30 days, at which point owners will be allowed to let their dogs roam free in designated areas of parks from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The only caveat? Be sure to carry proof of your canine’s current rabies vaccinations and license information at all times. We don't dare imagine what would happen if you're caught without these documents.
