First-Graders Act Juvenile In Brooklyn

Here’s some breaking news: Elementary school children are immature and mean-spirited. I know, I know. It’s not exactly a revelatory statement. But the parents of a particular first-grader at P.S. 289 in Crown Heights are pretty pissed off about it.

Sabria Govan is claiming that one of her classmates [cut off her braids] and snipped her pants while the teacher wasn’t looking, and then the teacher refused to do anything about it. “I raised my hand to [told] the teacher, then I got up and told the teacher. And the teacher said, ‘I don't want to hear it,’” Sabria said.

The Department of Education is currently investigating what happened to five-year-old at her school. The parents said the teacher claimed nothing happened and challenged them to find the hair, and they eventually found it in her desk. School officials say they believe the child may have cut her own hair and clothes, but her father disagrees. “She's not going to take scissors and cut her pants. She's not going to cut her hair,” Sabria’s father Melsong Kaleak said. “And I don't believe my daughter would lie on another student.”

You don’t believe “she would lie on other student?” What kind of grammar is that? I think the father is just bitter that he received a poor first-grade education, and wants revenge on all the elementary school teachers in the city.
