Eat Me And You Will Grow Larger

You thought the chivalrous city’s interest in your diet would end with the trans-fat ban, didn’t you, you sweetly naïve New Yorker? How wrong you were. Now, City Council members and Mayor Bloomberg are involved in a little tiff over whether [fast-food joints must prominently post calorie content on menu boards], reports The Post. A council proposal would abolish the rule recently approved by Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden that requires the calorie content of both beverages and foods to be listed on menus. If approved, fast food chains could make the info known in more subtle ways—like on posters or brochures. Even better, the bill would offer $3,000 in tax credits over the course of two years to smaller restaurants that willingly publish the guilt-inducing factoids. That will certainly make up the financial losses incurred by reminding diners: If you eat our yummy treats, you will get, um, voluptuous. (http://flickr.com/photos/thespeedoflife/)
