Upper East Side State Senator Liz Krueger, State Senator José M. Serrano, and City Council Member Ben Kallos jointly announced their endorsement of Rebecca Seawright for New York State Assembly in the 76th Assembly District, which includes the Upper East Side, Yorkville and Roosevelt Island.

"Rebecca Seawright will be an effective partner who will deliver for our community in Albany, and I know she will be a strong voice for robust campaign finance and ethics reforms, so we can finally build the kind of government New Yorkers deserve," said Krueger.

"Rebecca has demonstrated that she is committed to progressive priorities, such as raising the minimum wage for working families, supporting the NY Dream Act and full passage of the Women's Equality Agenda," said Serrano, who represents Roosevelt Island.

City Council Member Ben Kallos cited Rebecca's commitment to stopping the proposed Marine Transfer Station.

"Rebecca understands the problems we face with the MTS because she has lived them. Her children played on the ball fields at Asphalt Green," Kallos said. "I look forward to rallying with her against the dump and fighting for new solutions that don't put our kids in danger."

Seawright is running to fill the seat that will be vacated by current Assembly Member Micah Kellner. She is an attorney specializing in contract law, and has never held elected office. She's running against three other Democrats -- Gus Christensen, Ed Hartzog, and David Menegon -- in the September 9th primary.
